San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Landen Roupp was knocked out of Wednesday night's game at the San Diego Padres in the bottom of the third inning after getting struck in the back of the right thigh by a line drive.

Roupp was drilled by Ramon Laureano's shot up the middle, which came off the bat at 95.7 miles per hour. The impact spin Roupp around before his left knee buckled and he crumpled to the field. Roupp was aided by training staff from both teams before being carted off.

The righthy departed after pitching 2 1/3 innings with runners on first and second and his team trailing 3-0. Joey Lucchesi entered in relief and promptly allowed a three-run homer to Gavin Sheets, adding insult to literal injury.

Roupp was charged with five runs off five hits during his stint on the mound, walking two and fanning two. He entered the game with a 7-6 record and a 3.45 earned run average.
