SAN FERNANDO CITY, Dec. 3 (PIA) - Senator Christopher "Bong" Go will lead the inauguration of the 94th Malasakit Center at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), this city on Friday afternoon.
The Malasakit Center at the ITRMC is one among the centers established in Region 1.
As Go's brainchild, the Malasakit Center is a one-stop where all Filipinos especially indigent patients can efficiently access financial and medical assistance from various government agencies.
"True to the vision of ITRMC as a people-centered multi-specialty regional medical center delivering quality health service and training in the Ilocos Region by 2022, a Malasakit Center will be established within the hospital," Dr. Eduardo M.Badua, medical center chief, said.
Through the Malasakit Center, patients or their representatives only need to fill up one unified form to request assistance, instead of having to visit government offices scattered in various locations.
As such, the center will provide a desk for a representative from the PhilHealth, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
"Together, we create an ITRMC vision with the highest possible level of shared resources for the people of La Union and the region," Badua added.
In attendance during the inauguration will be key officials from the national and local offices, other partner-agencies, ITRMC, and the Provincial Government of La Union.
The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on Dec. 3, 2019 while its implementing Rules and Regulations was signed on Feb. 24, 2019.
Meanwhile, Sen. Go will attend as witness and guest of honor during the distribution of assistance to market vendors of San Fernando City to be held at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus on Friday morning. (JCR/JPD, PIA La Union)
