An own goal in the 67th minute by Houston defender Victor Cabrera gave the visiting Columbus Crew a 1-1 tie against the Dynamo on Saturday.

The Crew (10-4-5, 35 points) have five losses and three ties in Houston since 2011.

Houston (4-7-9, 21 points), which got a 37th-minute goal from Memo Rodriguez, has a pair of ties after two straight losses.

The equalizer came on a cross by Luis Diaz from the right channel. The ball deflected off Cabrera's leg, leaving goalkeeper Marko Maric no time to react.

Columbus, 1-3-2 in the past six games, had its lone shot on goal in the 83rd minute when Maric stopped Youness Mokhtar at the left post. The Dynamo had six shots on target.

Houston got the 1-0 lead when Rodriguez made his diligence pay off for his fifth goal. With former Crew forward Niko Hansen leading the transition, Rodriguez came down the middle. Hansen sent a service from the right flank that Rodriguez turned into a shot on target from 12 yards.

Eloy Room, returning to play after missing three games with a right leg injury, made a diving save but couldn't smother the ball before it hit the left post.

Rodriguez followed and beat defender Harrison Afful to the ball to push it across the line before tumbling into the back netting.

The lead exemplified Houston's dominance to that point with a 9-0 advantage in shot attempts and four shots on goal, three by Rodriguez.

In addition to Room, midfielder Darlington Nagbe started for the Crew after sitting eight games with a meniscus injury and Lucas Zelarayan entered to start the second half. A hamstring injury kept him out of the previous three matches.

However, Crew leading scorer Gyasi Zardes (11 goals) sustained a minor knee injury in training on Friday and did not play.

Wednesday, the Crew are at D.C. United and Houston is on the road vs. Los Angeles FC.
