Aaron Schoenfeld scored in the second minute of stoppage time to give visiting Minnesota United a 1-0 victory over FC Cincinnati on Saturday night.

It was the first goal of the season for Schoenfeld, who had come on as a sub in the 76th minute for Kei Kamara. The winning goal came on a corner that Loons defender Michael Boxall headed off the far right post to Schoenfeld, who then tapped in the rebound.

Dayne St. Clair finished with two saves for Minnesota (7-5-6, 27 points), which leapfrogged idle Los Angeles FC (7-7-4, 25 points) into fourth place in the Western Conference while also extending its unbeaten streak to five games (2-0-3).

It was the fifth shutout in 10 starts and fourth in the last five games for St. Clair.

Spencer Richey had two saves for FC Cincinnati (4-12-4, 16 points), which lost for the sixth time in its last seven games.

FC Cincinnati controlled the first 30 minutes but failed to convert on its two best scoring chances, the first on a header in the center of the box by Siem de Jong off a cross from Haris Medunjanin right into the stomach of St. Clair, and the second by Alvaro Barreal, who broke in free on the left side but chipped a shot over the goal.

Minnesota had a trio of scoring chances in the final 11 minutes of the half. The first came when Ethan Finlay pounced on a loose ball inside the box but his shot from the right edge of the six-yard box flew over the crossbar. Two minutes later, Richey deflected away a point-blank left-footed shot by Kevin Molino breaking in on the left side off a Robin Lod setup. Defender Bakaye Dibassy also bounced a header over Richey and the crossbar off a corner in the 45th minute.

The Loons, who finished with an 18-12 edge in shots, controlled possession for most of the second half but only had one other good scoring chance in the 87th minute when an uncovered Molino fired a shot from the center of the box over the net.
