Landry Jones passed for 305 yards and a touchdown in his XFL debut and Cameron Artis-Payne rushed for two scores as the Dallas Renegades recorded a 25-18 win at the Los Angeles Wildcats on Sunday.
Jones completed 28 of 40 passes and posted the first 300-yard effort in the seventh game of the new XFL. Jones, the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback who is one of the faces of the XFL, sat out the team's opener because of a knee injury. He was intercepted twice on Sunday.
Artis-Payne ran 14 times for 99 yards, scoring on a 21-yard run with nine minutes left in the game, followed by a 1-point conversion run for a 13-9 lead.
Jones completed a 3-yard scoring pass to tight end Donald Parham about four minutes later for a 19-9 advantage. Los Angeles (0-2) pulled within 19-18 after a 44-yard touchdown pass from Josh Johnson to Nelson Spruce and a three-point conversion pass.
The Renegades (1-1) responded with a seven-play, 64-yard drive, capped by Artis-Payne's 17-yard run with 1:14 to go. The Wildcats then turned the ball over on downs.
Johnson was 18 of 34 for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
