CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Sept. 17 (PIA) -- The City of San Fernando bested other local government units in the region for attaining the highest local revenue growth in 2018.
Said citation from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) was attributed to the collection from different income sources including real property taxes, business taxes, regulatory fees, user charges, economic enterprises, and other taxes.
City Treasurer Mary Ann Bautista said the city attained a total local revenue growth rate of 29 percent for 2018 which equates to P1,144,060,850.32 total actual collection, compared to P883,605,587.25 in 2017.
"This accomplishment may be attributed to the implementation of the Revised Revenue & Market Code as well as the update on Schedule of Market Values," she said.
Mayor Edwin Santiago, for his part, said the increase in collection performance will assure Fernandinos of better programs and services for the upliftment of their living conditions.
"Here in our city, we believe that tax is the bloodlife of the local government. Now that we see a progress in our collection performance, expect that this will translate into improved services for the Fernandinos," Santiago said.
Apart from San Fernando, 14 cities in the region were also assessed by BLGF to have attained significant increase on their growth rates. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
